10.29.09 - The Center is CLOSED!
The Center is closed today, Thursday, October 29th, due to adverse weather conditions. In addition, the legal presentation with the Colorado Bar Association scheduled for tonight, Oct. 29th, at The Center, has been canceled and will be rescheduled.

9.15.09 - Center issues statement about bill to repeal DOMA
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Colorado applauded the introduction of legislation today that would repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act. Click here for the full text of the statement.

6.24.09 - The Center Launches Mobile Giving Campaign
The Center will launch a mobile giving campaign at PrideFest June 27-28, which will include a new video highlighting "What The Center Does for You." The video will air on a Jumbotron near the Main Stage -- also something new for PrideFest this year. Click here to see the video.

4.22.09 - Justice for Angie Zapata in Andrade Guilty Verdict
GREELEY - After deliberating for just two hours, a Weld County jury today found Allen Ray Andrade guilty of first-degree murder and guilty of a bias-motivated crime in the murder of Angie Zapata of Greeley.


4.7.09 - Statewide Zapata Educational Campaign

A print and online advertising campaign was launched today throughout the state of Colorado to educate residents about the life and death of a Colorado transgender woman, Angie Zapata, who was brutally murdered in July 2008 because of anti-transgender bias. Her alleged killer goes on trial next Tuesday in Greeley, Colo. The campaign also informs about the importance of Colorado’s hate crime law and the need for a federal hate crime law that includes sexual orientation and gender identity.

4.2.09 - Tobacco Prevention Program Facing Cuts
Colorado's tobacco prevention program is facing drastic cuts.As of April 1, elected members of Colorado's JBC are discussing CUTTING Colorado's tobacco education and prevention program by at least $10 million for next fiscal year. Click here for more information about tobacco in Colorado.

Did you know that members of the LGBT community are between 40% and 70% more likely to smoke than non-GLBT individuals? And did you also know that tobacco use, which is responsible for heart disease, strokes, and many cancers, is the single most preventable cause of death in the United States? That means that each year, LGBT individuals are dying from tobacco use. Our community is at risk.


3.20.09 - Center to be a Site for the 9 News Health Fair




On Monday April 20th, The Center will open its doors as a host site for the 9Health Fair to offer a full spectrum of medical screenings to promote health, prevention and early detection of chronic diseases. For more information, click here.
